Beth told me she was going to a night club with some friends and one of them was the designated driver and wouldn't drink. Oh yes I'm going to sleep easy tonight!!
I have always told my kids, don't ever get into a car with anyone who has had an alcoholic drink, not even one alcoholic drink. I would far rather they phone me and say "Mum, I need a lift, my friend has had a drink and I won't get in the car...... than the possible alternative!
This time of year with all the Christmas parties people seem more willing than ever to drink and drive, or get into a car with someone who has had a drink. It isn't worth it, my colleagues and I get called to so many car accidents, where alcohol has obviously played a part. Last New years eve my crewmate and I were sent to an accident where the patient had been ejected from the car, she died, her boyfriend, the driver, then tried to walk into the path of an oncoming lorry to try and kill himself as he had been drinking.
Two families at least were thrown into turmoil at the start of a new year, to mention nothing of us, the crew who are turned out to deal with the accident,... after all we are not robots, and many of us have kids...............
Be Safe, Stay Alive......don't drink and drive!
