Swapsies

Last night I was on a night shift, My crew mate was the same one as I was working with on my second day which again meant that we had to swap with a crew from a neighbouring station. Before the swap could be done however we got a job, to a rather large lady having an asthma attack, she was really quite poorly so having got her onto our stretcher we took her into the nearest receiving hospital.
We were then able to swap crew mates, I ended up with a crew mate I had not met before (once again) he seemed nice enough, and when we got the second job of the night he even offered to go in the back with the patient as I was heaving and gagging, due to the smells that came with this particular patient, I declined as I have a small pot of Vicks vapour rub in my pocket and that usually does the trick. The patient was a very ill lady indeed, we weren't really sure what was going on with her, but I am hoping to find out when I am on duty next, it could have been an upper GI bleed judging by what she was bringing up, but what ever it was it was very unpleasant, her obs were deteriorating en route too.
Once back at base we were given a meal break and that is where we stayed for the rest of the night. Amazingly, but could I sleep? No my crew mate doesn't sleep on nights but he does watch tv and not quietly either, so what could have been a very good night turned out to be double edged! when I got home, I just fell asleep and that is where I stayed until about 1pm when I got up and had a cuppa.
Gail and her daughter came round for a natter and see Twiglet which was nice, I hope we can manage to stay in touch now after the years that flew by since we grew up and left school.
I went down to the stables to do the night hay and feed then once back home that was it for the night.
