It's my life, as I see it. It's my opinions, my thoughts, and my experiences. The content has changed over the years as my live has changed. The 40 something EMT Wife and mother, is now a Wife and Search Technician with Search Dogs Sussex and as for the age? Does that even matter!

Mouse trap
During the night the mouse trap that we have had to put in the loft, went off! So this morning my husband went up to see what was going on, the trap was empty, no cheese and no mouse! ahh well lets hope it scared him off! I went down to the stables and decided that I would do some schooling with Mouse, as it's the first time I have done anything in the school I just put an Enya CD on and got her use to the school then the kit, I kept her moving and she did really well after 15 minutes or so I hosed her down and went to take her up the track to the field we had, up to this point had a really good and productive day. She started to grab mouth fulls of grass from the track which I let her do, then she lifted her head up underneath the catch on a gate, the sound was so loud and hard that even thinking about it makes me cringe. I pulled her head round so that I could see what was going on, and at first glance it looked as if she had just taken a layer of hair off her forehead, I ran my hand across it and was surprised to find it covered in blood! Back in the yard I had a closer look, she had cut her head open full thickness, right down to the bone in a "U" shape, I rang the Blonde bird for a second opinion, as I didn't want to call the vet if it wasn't necessary, especially on a Sunday, but there again I didn't want to withhold treatment if that is what she needed. We decided to call the vet, as on inspection it was much bigger than we first thought. When he arrived he had to sedate her then clean it out before putting some local anaesthetic in and stapling the two edges together, poor Mouse she did look sorry for herself, especially when she was swaying to and fro with her head down due to the anaesthetic. we had to wait for a good two hours before she was with it enough to go out again, Red was very pleased to see her back again, as she had been without her field mate all day. Above are a couple of pictures of her in the school before the accident.
