Two very different shifts
Friday.
Today was my first shift back at my own station since doing jury service, I was working with Denise, and the day started slowly, we got a short spell of cover which was 20 miles from our station then we returned. for what we thought would be our meal break.
We both microwaved our food, (as this is the only method of heating it other than the toaster!) and began to eat, the red phone rang, as we thought to give us a meal break but no it was a job! The master of the hunt!! or what ever he is called had fallen from his 18 HH horse whilst jumping a fence, I would like to point out that this was not a fox hunt, it was a scent hunt, I personally don't like hunting, I can think of better quicker ways to kill a fox if "vermin control" is needed and feel that having it torn apart by a pack of baying hounds in the name of "Sport!!!!!" is a pathetic and wicked thing to do and I am sure many disagree, Oh did I mention that they then wipe the blood from the fox on the face of any new members to the hunt, "oh the sheer joy of having that done what a proud moment" puke hurl chunder!
Still this gentleman was in some considerable pain, and had a hard impact with the ground so we collared and long boarded him before taking him off to the nearest receiving hospital for xrays and tests, he was a very polite and funny man and fortunately he hadn't done himself too much damage. I would like to make a note at this point on the weather, it was a lovely sunny morning, until that is we booked on scene at the job, which was in the middle of a field, then the heavens opened and we all got extremely wet!, Oh yes then just as we got the stretcher onto the back of the ambulance ..... the sun came out again!
That was, to my memory our only job of the day.
Once back home I got changed and waited for the blonde bird to arrive as we together with some other friends were going to hit the town! Watch out town. We all met in the bar and had a few drinks and chatted before I had to go as I was working the next day, en route we ( the blonde bird and I) got a pizza which was really nice, although she picked all the jalapenos off and put on mine haha.
.
Saturday.
The night crew told us they hadn't used anything so the vehicle was just as I had left it the day before, but how different the day was going to be!
We got our first job at 0810 to the next village as their ambulance crew had refused to sign on! I would never get away with that, half way there we were stood down as the other crew had eventually signed on.
After this we didn't get back to base until our first meal break which we got at 2.30pm. All the jobs we got were real jobs, the first being to a concussion with vomiting, the slight problem we had was this patient had an odd condition whereby when ever she vomited she stopped breathing and her heart stopped, I thought mine was going to a couple of times that was a scary trip to hospital I can tell you! Next we had a cyclist who was on a club cycle ride going at about 30 mph when he hit the curb and went over the handlebars onto his head up against a tree, splitting his helmet into two pieces (as they are made to do to dissipate the impact) he had lots of back pain and was clammy his obs weren't too good.
Unfortunately (oops did I say unfortunately?) Helemed was dispatched to this job also so having begun to control the job the Hems doctor, paramedic and pilot arrived asked for a hand over and promptly took over! completely, well after certain procedures had been performed I made it clear that one of them would have to travel in the ambulance as I was not going to take responsibility for it, I think he had already decided he would come with us anyway.
Once we had him safely transferred onto a hospital trolley in the resus department, I booked myself in as I sustained a crush injury to my right hand thanks to someone who was on the last job! I am not referring to my crew mate here either.
Straight off to the next job, thanks control I'm fine thanks for taking the time to ask, or even see if my crew mate was single manned. Oh you didn't silly me of course you didn't.
A lady with brittle bones tripped over her dog and thinks she has broken her ankle, it didn't look too deformed or bruised, but judging by the amount of pain she is in and the condition she suffers with we use a vacuum splint and entonox gas and get her downstairs and onto the ambulance. It turned out that she hadn't broken it but soft tissue damage to ankles can be more painful than a break sometimes.
Time for a meal break, and our only time back at base all day! then we are off again, this time to a young man who has fallen from the top to the bottom of his stairs, backing up a car paramedic as this lad needs to be collared and long boarded, then a fall in the street an elderly man, who really did look unwell we bundled him up and into the ambulance and took him up to hospital then we were sent back to base for the end of our shift, we were followed onto the station by the night crew, thanks for coming in in good time guys, have a good night shift.

Wet and windy
This morning at about 2am I woke up I hadn't been sleeping very well anyway, but this time when I woke up I noticed the silence.... and it was weird! We have a ticking wall clock in our bedroom, ( I love ticking clocks) and it had stopped ticking!! The silence was almost too much and for the rest of the night I kept waking up.
Eventually it was time to get up, we were due to go riding again today, and this time the Blonde bird was going to come with us on Red, seeing as she isn't working today.
I made a cup of tea before I went putting mine in a travel mug to have when I got to the yard.
After feeding Red and Mouse, I started to drink my tea then decided that I had time to fill the water troughs before the other two arrived. I hung the mug on the open gate and dragged the hose up to our troughs. then as I was going back to get my tea the wind took the gate and threw the mug into the grass! grrr!!
It was such a cold wind and the rain had started to come down, that I didn't really feel inclined to ride out, my phone bleeped, it was the Blonde bird suggesting we didn't ride but had a cuppa at her house.
Then Blonde and Mentals owner turned up saying it was a bit windy and wet and her husband was unwell so we decided to cancel and re arrange for next week.
I drove over to the Blonde's house and we had tea and sponge cake! Very naughty! She also has a new dog, a Jack Russell pup about 14 weeks old and very cute, although I think their other dog got a bit fed up with him at times. We chatted for ages then I decided I had better head off home.
Thanks for doing the horses tonight Blonde bird.
The other day while I was cleaning Twiglet out I put her on top of her vivarium where the hamster cage is, they took the opportunity to say hello to each other!
Taken for a ride!
Yesterday, after my husband came home from work I went down to the stables to do the horses, then unlike usual when I would go home again, I groomed and tacked up the blonde horse while her owner tacked up the mental mare, they both belong to the same lady, and we were to be going out for a ride together, it was lovely, warm and sunny. We set off and I found myself riding on tracks that I haven't ridden down since I was a teenager, surprisingly the mental mare is better when being ridden than being led! and the blonde horse is lovely, an old hand at hacking out and lovely to ride. Once back at the stables we untacked and rugged them then took them out to their paddock.
My husband had gone out for the morning also and I got home before him.
After lunch there were a few bits of shopping to do and a sack of horse food for Mouse. Back at the stables I hayed fed and mucked out before returning home to cook the dinner.

Lazy day
A friend of mine is having a bad time at the moment and in the middle of the night last night she phoned me, we chatted for ages until she was calmer and then we finished our call, she suffers with depression and struggles to manage it, its at times like these you need friends, and the way I see it, if I needed to talk I hope someone would be there for me in the middle of the night!
I woke late this morning due to the call, but soon got up and began the chores of changing the linen and doing laundry, I had a tidy up in the garden then sorted out the animals before sitting down to start writing my new book, I should be studying for Monday but when I want to write I have to write.
After cooking dinner I went to do the horses, Mouse is still not having a rug on so that she doesn't knock the fence down but I did check her coat and its still very thick, they also have a field shelter that they cam go into so I don't think I am being too mean.
Once back home I just finished off the house work before chilling out in front of my laptop and catching up with friends. then looking through lots of old photos that I have transferred off my old laptop onto this one.
Today has been quite a lazy day.
I can actually hear rain now, so I hope Mouse has the sense to go into the shelter, I also hope it has stopped by tomorrow as I am supposed to be going for a ride with one of the other girls from the yard.
Lou Lou, I am thinking about you, after the text you sent me, I hope everything sorts its self out quickly and doesn't cause to much drama xxx
Shift Swap
Monday, Saw me back at work, this is not my shift and wasn't even on my station but as I want next Sunday night off I asked some people if they would swap a shift with me and this is the shift I am doing in exchange,
I was working about 8 miles from my usual base so I knew the area fairly well, and my crew mate was someone I enjoy working with, he's a paramedic and quite crazy!
Ben and I started our shift by going on cover followed by a couple of jobs, one of which was to a 17 year old who last July had been a clothes size 18 and decided to diet, well she was now a size 8 to 10 and very poorly, she had been diagnosed with Anorexia, and when we got to her she had a slow pulse, very low blood pressure and a blood sugar level of 2.4, She declined to take the glucose food stuff we have for raising sugar levels (average is 5) so the next stop was an intravenous glucose drip, Ben tried to cannulate but her veins were poor, so, step three was Glucogen a drug which is given as an injection into the muscles usually in the top of the arm, but in this case there was so much risk of getting a blood vessel we went for thigh, I gave the injection waited a while then tested her sugar level again, it hadn't come up by much.
We got her into hospital where she was able to get the help she needed.
Every one of our patients had a delay in being seen today, the longest delay was for two and a half hours, for the whole of this time we were stood waiting for a bed to transfer our patient onto from our stretcher.
We managed to finish on time and just as I was about to leave I got a message from one of my colleagues saying she had the results of the post mortem on the 3 year old resus we had on the 5 Feb. She asked me if I wanted to know and I said I did. She told me made sure I was ok then we ended the call. during this time Ben had also come over to see if I was ok as the results had upset me. I told him I was fine then phoned Tepic my normal crew mate and asked him if he wanted to know.
Why is it that when you really need your husband to be at home he is at work? We talked on the phone though. I drove home.
An almost relief washing over me as well as shock at what the post mortem had found.

Mothering Sunday
Today I woke up to a cup of tea from my husband and fried eggs on toast which Lit'lun had cooked all on her own and brought up on a tray. Breakfast in bed. She also gave me a card she had made with lots of rather amusing photos of us all inside, she and Beth had got some presents for me but as Beth was still at her friends house we decided to wait until they were both here. My Husband went off to work, and Lit'lun and I went down to do the horses, the Blonde bird text me yesterday to say that mouse had broken the electric fencing down, grr, the battery needs recharging but she does these things at night when she has the protection of her rug to stop her getting a shock of the fence. Lit'lun and I fed them both and took their rugs off before getting to work on the fence, we put some more posts in and made sure the tape was nice and tight then I swapped the battery for a new one and put the other in the car to take home for recharging. We then went round to see mum, and take her mothering Sunday present round, we couldn't stop long as mum was looking after the hairy dog (my brothers border collie X, and we had the dog with us, Hairy dog went in the garden just for the short while it took us to have a cuppa then we went home. Where the next job was Twiglet, I completely cleaned her vivarium out giving her a clean fleece and swapping her toys for some different ones. She came out for a run around, if I put something new in her path (she usually walks the same path every time she comes out) she likes to investigate, today I put the tunnel from my granddaughters Thomas the Tank engine set in the path, after a few sniffs she decided it would be safe to run through, choo choo. Back at the stables I fed and hayed the horses but only put a rug on Red, Mouse has a very thick coat and it is much milder now, I think she needs to understand that the fence is there to stop her and not for her to break down every night, she will end up with laminitis if we can't keep her off the long grass! Cruel to be kind (but not very cruel!) Alas I did have to cook the dinner, My Husband has been at work so he couldn't, Lit'lun is too young really and although she would love to it ends up with more work for me in the long run, as for Beth!!! Can't cook Won't cook............ But I did get breakfast in bed. * * *

It wasn't a ferry and it wasn't the Mersey
Today my husband has a study day in London, after asking the blonde bird if she would mind doing the horses this morning I decided to go in with him, take lit'lun and have a day out. We had to leave on the 10 past 7am train to arrive in time for the start of his course, after getting a coffee he left us to go to the study centre, while Lit'lun and I decided what we would do till we met him again for lunch.
We decided to wander down to tower bridge, it was a lovely warm sunny day and as we walked we noticed the river hopper catamarans and decided to go for a spin up the river we got a discount on our boat ticket because of the type of rail card we had so it didn't cost much and the crew told us we could get on and off anywhere along the Thames up until 10pm.
We went up to the last stop then came all the way back down past where we got on till we got to the last stop in that direction too, before getting off at our original place to meet my husband for lunch, which we had at Southwark Cathedral refectory.
After lunch we decided to catch an open top sight seeing bus and "DO" London, it was really good we got loads of photos and Lit'lun and I couldn't stop laughing at the tour guides jokes, we got back to where we were to meet my husband and were a bit early so had a cup of tea.
When he arrived we all went back to the railway station and headed home.
Thursday and Friday
Thursday saw us all having to decide on the trial we were jury for. That is all I am prepared to say about it as
A) I am not supposed to talk about it anyway and
B) I am still confused and dazed!
When I got home I took the dog for a walk and my husband decided to come with me which was really nice, just the two of us and the dog, we drove to the downs then walked for a while throwing the ball for the dog and chatting, it was lovely and warm and lots of people were out with their dogs, I am pleased to say we didn't meet a grumpy person with am over zealous dog this time haha.
We had steak diane for dinner which I am told is Australian.
Friday the blonde bird put the horses out in the morning so I didn't have to go up to the yard first thing. The gas people were back again to disconnect the gas yet again! this was at 8am, telling us it would be back on by 4pm, which is quite bad as our hob, heating and water are all run off the gas.
I decided to take the dog for another long walk and again my husband came, this is becoming a regular occurrence, we took the binoculars this time as we were going to go down to the harbour.
we had been walking for about 3 minutes before the dog found her first patch of mud to lay in! By the time we got back to the car we had managed to get her into some slightly cleaner water to wash some of it off.
Once back home I did some laundry, then when Lit'lun got in she got changed and I took her for her singing and piano lessons, before heading off to the stables to give the horses their feed and hay then put their rugs on and muck out the field. That done I went round to see Gail as she had invited me round for a coffee, we chatted for about an hour before I headed home again.
When I got there I found that the gas still hadn't been put back on and neither had our neighbour. I rang the gas company who said they would send someone round to do it, after a few minutes another of our neighbours knocked to see if we had gas as he had just rung too.
It was another half an hour until we got gas reconnected fortunately I have an electric oven so dinner was cooked in that we had Caribbean fish.

Midweek special!
Or in other words, here are Tuesday and Wednesday's blogs.
Yesterday, I had a lie in wahoo, then it was off to court again, on yet another sunny day, for the long term weather report, I finish jury service on Friday, so it will chuck it down with rain up until Monday when I am back at work!
We were in and out of the court room like a fiddlers elbow yesterday, and at Lunch time, myself and one of the other Jury members went and sat outside to have our lunch, Beth who works nearby came and had lunch with us, then it was back to the court room.
My Husband picked me up in the car afterwards, and I prepared dinner, Irish of course, then, He and Lit'lun went off to church to prepare for the Taize style service that he had prepared as part of his course, I put the dog in the car and took her to a park that we don't usually go to and probably wont again seeing as she was mauled by a huge black Labrador called Alfie, and no this time that is the correct name! Name and shame, this dog ran at her from the other side of the park, en route to her he knocked a girl off her bike! Its owner tried to say it was my dogs fault as she hadn't been to the park before so his dog hadn't met her!! Don't push me mate, I was ready to call the police, and had the girl been injured I would have, my dog was right by my side, she had no contact with the cyclist and the first she knew of the other dog was when it landed on her!
We had a quick wander else where then went to the church to support my husband, it was a nice service and he had put lots of effort into it.
Once home we had dinner and a pint of Guinness, well it is St Patrick's day after all.
Today, I got up and went straight out to do the horses before heading off to court, I walked this morning as my husband had to stay in for the gas people who are changing the gas meter over today. We again spent the whole of a lovely day inside a dull court room, having lunch in the same place again but this time with out Beth.
When I got home after the short walk from the court, there was a man under the stairs! not often you find one of them, and I don't mind telling you I don't want to find another one if this one is anything to go by!! He told me that he would not be able to reattach the gas through the new meter as we had in our house somewhere a gas leak, a small one but a leak none the less! Oh what joy how much was this going to cost, he said we had to get a gas plumber in to find and fix the leak. Fortunately my husband works with one, so while I went and rushed around doing the horses, he spoke to him and got him to come out.
By the time I had got home from the stables we had a now non leaking gas hob, and a gas supply again.
I was able to cook tonight's dinner which was North American Jambalaya,
followed by good old bread and butter pudding!

Kavanagh QC
Today I got up on time, went down to the horses fed them and took their rugs off, yet another lovely day! I had to get back fairly quickly though as I had to be back in court at midday, pity when its so nice I would far rather be wandering over the downs with the dog.
My husband dropped me off in good time and I went in and sat in the jury room with all the people from last week who also didn't get picked, then after a short while some others joined us, we waited and waited then got told we could leave but be back for two o clock, getting a sense of repetition here me thinks!
Anyway a group of six of us go to one of the local pubs, all order coke or lemonade and have a sandwich which I have to say was fab, really good value!
After lunch we went back to the pokey room (one of my crew mates suggested it was like being on cover only with Kavanagh QC on in the background haha) and sat twiddling our thumbs right up till four thirty (which happens to be the time we were told nothing more would be done!!!) when we were asked to go into court to swear the jury in, there were fourteen of us and only twelve required, could I not be chosen again? Not a chance, my name was the third name called ooohhh goody I get a front row seat! what joy!
Hopefully this won't take too long and won't be to bad, so that I can get back to normal again! what ever that is!
By the time I got home my husband had already eaten as he is off to work again, Lit'lun and I decided to take the dog out for a walk ( I definitely needed some fresh air and to stretch my legs don't know about the dog!) then on the way home I stopped at the chip shop and got us some dinner.
The weekend
This is again a belated blog, and I have no excuse for it what so ever.
Saturday was a lovely day, in fact it has been a really nice weekend altogether,
I went down to the stables and fed the horses, took their rugs off and dunged the field, I took the dog with me so I threw the ball for her with the ball slinger while I mucked out.
My husband has gone out for the day and the girls are both feeling unwell so it was nice to get out of the house on my own with the dog even if it was just to do the horses.
After doing some more shopping, and laundry the hoovering, sorting out the small animals all the usual stuff, I went back to the stables and after re rugging feeding and putting hay out I popped round to see my mum for a natter and a cuppa and a sit down!!
Back home I started on today's meal, China, we had Chinese roast chicken seaweed (from a shop) and stir fry veg with noodles.
Everyone seemed to like it they decided it was their favorite so far!
Sunday, I didn't need to get up early as The Blonde bird was doing the horses, my husband and litlun went to church, and I got up had a shower and then took Twiglet down to see a girl who asked if I would take her to the shop where she works even before I got her home!
After lunch I did a bit in the garden (Gardener required please apply to me!!) then started on the dinner as my husband is on nights and needs to eat earlier than normal, a chicken dish from Portugal, with a bit of a spicy bite to it. Again they all seemed to like it.
After dinner I took the dog to a local field for a run, whilst there a friend of mine was cycling past on her way down to do her horses, (we used to keep our horses together) so I drove down to her yard and chatted to her and helped her bring her two, a mother and daughter, in for the night. It was nice to catch up with her.
Back home I got my things ready for the morning then started playing games on my Nintendo ds!! fatal, I was up for hours playing on it.

Brazil
What a lovely day, the sun shining and warm you could have thought it was at least may.
I took the dog with me this morning when I went to do the horses. I was hoping the mud at the entrance to the field had dried up a bit, how wrong, the first thing the dog did was lay in it oh the joys of dog ownership. After giving the horses their breakfast and taking their rugs off I threw a tennis ball for the dog using the ball slinger, while I mucked out the field. I was going to do the water troughs too but the Blonde bird beat me to it, she must have done them yesterday.
After tipping the wheelbarrow out on the muck heap I hosed off the dog, she actually doesn't mind, and I wonder if she goes in the mud just to be hosed down, when she was dry I put her back in the car and drove home.
Beth is walking about like death, all pale and poorly, in fact she didn't get dressed all day.
Today our dinner is from Brazil, oh yes and the "are we are all having a Brazilian" joke has been flying about all day!
It was a fish dish, with a traditional vegetable side dish with it, needless to say Beth had a pizza!! She won't eat fish at all, she did have the rest though, her dinner looked very odd.
My husband decided that he preferred today's to yesterdays, so Brazil is in the lead, not that it is a competition, I can't see how to chose one over the other personally. I am just glad they all enjoyed their food.
Tomorrow we will be visiting China for our dinner, and no I am not just nipping down to the nearest Chinese take away..... although..................

Howzit. Lekker?
Today has been a very slow day as I said in my earlier post (that was meant to be from yesterday) I got woken by cavity wall insulators filling next doors cavity!
Oh what fun.
On the plus side, until they woke me I had actually had a full nights sleep wahoo, the first for absolutely ages but I still could have slept on.....
and on!!!
It was about time to muck out the rabbit, so as it was nice I decided to do that, he wasn't very happy because he didn't like the noise coming from next door, we were fighting for the hutch, he's moulting like mad at the moment.
Then I went on line for a while chatting to some friends. did some lunch and waited for Lit'lun to come home, so that I could go food shopping, £63 and two inches extra on my arms the shopping was done, the bags weren't half heavy today.
Once back at home I started to prepare tonight's dinner, South African, Babotie, together with another dish which I lost the name of and its totally unpronounceable so you'll just have to take it that we all thought it was really tasty and enjoyed it, very filling. Babotie is minced beef or pork with onion, apple, raisins, almonds and some other ingredients it sounds unusual but tastes really good... We will be eating SA again!
Tomorrow we are heading off to Brazil...........
For now I have to be off, I have to help Lit'lun with her fancy dress costume for tomorrows competition at school, she is going as Vermeer's, girl with the pearl earring. Her friend is going as the painter!
Aaggghhhh
This morning we didn't get jack hammers to wake us up...Oh no!!! We got CAVITY WALL DRILLING AAAGGGHHH!!!
This post is about yesterday though not today, so just pretend I didn't just put that.
I went up and fed the horses yesterday morning and decided to nip into the blonde birds for a natter, I picked up a sack of horse food as Mouse is getting low, then went home, as yet again I don't need to be in court but have to phone in at 3pm to find out about tomorrow, its a pain in the backside really if they don't need us surely they should say, ok come back next week. Then I would be able to go to work and do a few shifts, instead I have cleaned the oven!! Oh yes, the oven is sparkling, the kitchen however is covered in cooker grease. Kidding, it did need to be done though.
Because I have two weeks of Jury service and (seemingly plenty of time to cook) I have decided to tour the culinary world for a few days.
Tonight (Weds, yes I know its being written on Thurs...) we are off to India, well start with something easy aye, Dopiaz curry, Bombay potatoes (made with dried onion as someone nicked the last onion!) rice and shop bought poppadoms, followed by something typically Indian..... the last of the bread and butter pudding haha.
Where are we off to tomorrow..(yes yes I know its today, just humour me will you!)
South Africa, Soutie where were you when I needed you.....

Tea with my aunt....... or in this case dinner with my Mum!
Today I awoke to the wonderful early morning sounds of.............. Jack hammer or pneumatic road drill oh the absolute joy! Well actually that was for the second time of waking!!! The first time was to haul the duvet back off my husband who thought I could do with out it! how wrong.
The Blonde bird is doing the horses today so I could have had a lay in too.
After my husband had left to go to uni up in London, I decided to have a look at the hoover that arrived yesterday, all brand new but just puffed dust all around the room, after checking all the many filters and fan belts and all the other things which cause the hoover to run smoothly and dust free. Everything was in order, then I spotted it!!!............. the hose just sits in its little holder minding its own business ....till,.....if you are like me and bash the hoover willy nilly around the room sucking up the dogs tail and wee escaped hamsters (oh the cruelty!) I'm joking flippin' heck would I really do that?? Hmmm well the hamster can bite.......
and each time you hit the hoover or even catch the hose on something it leaps out of the holder and sprays dust everywhere! Not any more, I have the technology, Oh yes, I just wrapped an elastic band round it to tighten the seal. Damn I'm good.
After this clever interlude I washed up all the dishes, and brought the laundry in as it was raining.
Then I was bored!
I was supposed to be going round to have a cup of tea with my mum but I thought it might be nice if she came over to me, at least we could natter without me having to rush home for Lit'lun. I went and picked her up and brought her over, we had a cuppa then I prepared dinner, nothing spectacular just stuffed chicken breast wrapped in bacon roast pots and veg with asparagus sauce and bread and butter pudding for dessert.
At three o'clock I had to ring the court to find out what time I have to go in tomorrow, unbelievably they told me I have to ring again at the same time tomorrow!! Oh what, I can't plan anything or even go to work in case they need me to go in but this is crazy, the house is going to smell like bleach at this rate!
We chatted for ages. then after dinner there was a knock at the door. I wasn't expecting anyone so instantly my mind worked overtime, It was a friend of our family, and also distantly (he works for a different county but the same job) a work colleague called Hugh. He came round with a copy of JRCalc, which is like the ambulance service bible, it contains all the protocols and guidelines that the UK ambulance service has to adhere to, and I can't find mine. Now I can study for my paramedic exam! Which is on the 30th of March. (which also happens to be my husbands birthday.)
He had a quick chat with my Mum and I before going again.
I drove mum home then checked my emails, tidied up the lounge let the dog out and now its off to bed, my husband will be back shortly I hope he has had a good day.

Day One.....
First day at court today!
When I got there two other people arrived at the same time, so we went in together and sat chatting together, other people had set themselves into small groups too. The two I was with were Chris and Luke. We were given a welcome pack shown a video then told what we were to expect and how to fill in the expenses forms (very important). Then we waited, we were told 11:00 am would be the start of things, one of the staff members then called Chris and we didn't see him again! very strange.... we were then told 11:30!! Well, by twelve we had still not been called, then the Court usher came in and said we could leave as nothing would be done before lunch so we had to return by 01:50pm.
I went home and had my packed lunch!!
Back at 01:40 Luke and I sat playing games on our phones! joy.....
then... we were called into court 1.
Twelve of us had our names called, not me though. So together with 6 others I went back to the waiting room, collected my things and was told I wasn't needed any more today, yippee.
I met Luke at the front door, he told me the case he had just been called for had been adjourned........... its a funny old world!
I wandered around the shops then walked home. The Blonde bird sent me a text message saying she has got a new dog, a Jack Russell. That is so not fair, he should be mine! twelve weeks old and very cute.
I went down to the yard to do the horses then when I got in I cooked dinner.
It hasn't been a very fruitful day there are a hundred and one things I could have done today.........

The cure!
After a very long night shift I was ready to go home this morning, I haven't been sleeping as it is and last night I was on a different station with a crew mate I have only worked with once before, so the worry is already there. Fortunately the lovely lady I was working with, Lee, was fab we chatted about all sorts and if by any slim chance she ever reads this... Thank you for, well you know what for. We had a mixed bag of jobs, one gentleman waiting until we got him onto the hospital bed before deciding to crash! They got him back very quickly but it was a bit of a surprise to every one. just as we were taking our things off the ambulance the day crew got a job, so it was a very quick start to the day for them, I hope it wasn't like that all day guys.
Back home I got changed, had the usual fried egg sandwich and cup of tea ( a must after a night shift) then when my husband got in we set off for Brighton, to see the church with the tallest vault roof in Europe,St Bartholomews, it is 126 feet tall (I think!) The inside of the church is amazing too with the marble and stone work and the wall art. We stayed for High Mass which was wicked, incense which I love and bells, a little unsure of the Biretta's though! After the service we came home again and carried on with our normal daily activities. Which included all the animals and tidying up.
My husband has another night shift to do tonight but I am lucky I can sleep in my lovely comfy bed. Well, I hope to be able to sleep anyway.
Another good thing about today was the fact that I found a cure, I slept all the way to and from Brighton in the car, fantastic (except I was driving......joke) so tomorrow I think I will ask someone to just drive to Scotland and back that should give me a good sleep!! The only problem, well perhaps not the only problem, but a problem none the less is that I am due in court tomorrow for jury service! What joy!!

FIRE!!
today was a crazy day, I started to hoover the lounge and the hoover decided to catch fire, there was smoke pouring out into the room, I unplugged and ran with it! Yes I ran, well a hoovers one thing the house is a whole new ball game.
I then found out that my friends son is in need of some prayers, if you pray, pray for him, if you don't please send good Karma.
The Blonde bird came round for lunch and a natter today, we put the world to rites as usual then she told me that a real blast form the past (and a nasty piece of work at that) has just moved back into the area, when we were younger we had a restraining order on him he wasn't allowed near us! Well she bumped into him and left hastily I might add!
after taking Lit'lun to her singing and piano lessons I went up to do the horses then after picking her up I set too with the dinner, Tonight our Granddaughter and her mother are coming round for dinner and a natter as we haven't seen them for ages what with work and one thing or another, Flower was on fine form keeping us all amused.
When they had gone I came upstairs and went on the computer where Soutie was on msn! I haven't seen or chatted to her for absolutely ages either so we are having a natter as I type this, oh yes, multi tasking weyhey!
All a bit mixed up!
This week has been a bit here and there, as I swapped my annual leave week with someone at work from a different station she is on holiday this week and I am having to work her shifts! except someone on my station lives closer to the other station and has agreed to do two of them for me!! Yep clear as mud.
Suffice to say, I worked a night shift with Denise on Tuesday night and will be working again on Saturday night.
So other than that, I have just been feeling sorry for myself all week and playing a crazy game on facebook which one of my well meaning friends has got me hooked on!
Other than doing a bit of food shopping my week has been totally uneventful, and as I still don't feel right I haven't been bothered to do anything except house work and read!
That has to change! I an going to take the dog for a long walk in a minute, then muck out Twiglet (then vegetate in front of the computer playing that stupid game again!! NOT)
Twiglet had her first bath this week, in the sink! I'm not sure if she enjoyed it or not, she wasn't overly anxious to get out but there again she didn't try and get back in when I took her out!

I NEED SLEEP!!!!
How do you get to sleep, and how long will it be before I just fall asleep where I stand? I am getting fed up with not sleeping properly, last night was the worst for a week or two, I want to sleep and can fall asleep but staying asleep is another ball game entirely! I eventually got up at 7:30am and made a cup of tea, then sorted out the animals. When the vets opened I rang to find out what time he would be along to give Mouse her injections, he said between 3 and 4. I went down to feed them muck out the paddock and take their rugs off, then decided that it had been a long time since I had visited her breeder so I went down to see them and their new and old horses. We all had a cup of tea and exchanged stories of what had been going on.
Once home the Blonde bird came round for a natter and a cuppa, she gave me some free samples of a new horse feed that has just come out, we have both decided to change on to this as it is a complete feed and will be better for the horses and our pockets.
Back at the yard I brought Mouse down from the field to wait for the vet, we didn't have long and it took a matter of minutes for the injection to be given and her passport to be stamped and signed.
Then it was off to do some food shopping then make a shepherds pie for dinner. Its a good job I always over do the amount of food, as No1 son turned up just before we sat down, so he had dinner with us too.
