When is it going to end?!

Last night I was on another night shift, we began the night with a few cover moves, so we knew that some areas were busy even though we didn't get a job till fairly late on, the job was not really requiring an ambulance, yet another drain on resources and finances.
We were then sent to cover a station about 25 miles from our own, we both groaned wondering when we would get back to our own area. Then we got another job, "its an amber in the area we are heading to" my crew mate said, I put the lights on and put my foot down as she got the sat nav up and running, we were stood down about 10 miles short of the address,
"phew" my crew mate said "you'll never guess what that job was?", I glanced across at her "No, what?" I asked "six month old un responsive!" she replied.
I was gob smacked, "when is this going to end?" I asked.
we were then sent back to our base station for a meal break, and this is where we stayed until 6.30am when we were sent to a 40 year old fitting, this took us into overtime.
Once home, I decided to just wake the hedgehog up for a short play as I hadn't had much chance the night before, she was very nosey and crept into my pocket hoping to curl up and sleep, I went to get her out and found, oh no!! the work phone! I rang the control centre and told them what I had done and that I would drop it back (62 mile round trip) after doing the horses!
It was absolutely chucking it down with rain so I kept them in, most of the others were in so they had loads of company, then I picked mum up and went to drop the phone off on the way to a massive garden centre which has a good reptile centre, now I know that the hedgehog isn't a reptile but as she lives in a vivarium I wanted to get some proper heating system and here would be the ideal place to get it from. After buying a heat mat and a couple of pet toys, mum and I had lunch before setting off home again.
At least I have five days off now. Lets just hope things start to get better.
